To have you toes in the sea, your hands in history and your head in the sunny Spanish skies, your bottom must be based in Balsicas.
Take a step back from the Mediterranean, towards the hills and the history of Murcia. Settle into the peaceful surroundings of Balsicas and know that you are but a short hop jump and a skip away from all the action.
Just 12km to the east are the splendid sands and wonderful waters of Mar Menor, a lovely lagoon with a wide variety of water sports. A few kilometres further north are the popular white sands of Costa Blanca and to the south sit some of Costa Cálida's best beaches. Swim, windsurf, sail or simply sit and take it all in. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, you can try your hand at all four and still have plenty of time to explore elsewhere.
Cartagena, the burgeoning seaside city that's just starting to flaunt its rich Roman and Carthaginian heritage, is a mere 40km to the south and Murcia, another city laden with historical relics is just 34km northwest.
If you prefer nature's buildings to humans, there's plenty of it to explore from your base in Balsicas. Put on your hiking boots and venture westward into Parc Natural de Sierra Espuña, where limestone peaks catch some of the rare Spanish snows come winter. Or walk out of town and up El Cabezo Gordo for a view of the coast. Once again, it is all up to you.
